On the verge of the abyss, the situation on the planet Sera is Following the events narrated in Gears of War 4. The army generated by the exposure of humans and Locusts to the damaging effects of crystals, the Swarm, has come out into the open and is currently preparing to assault the cities handled by the Coalition of Government and the Settlements. A war seems inevitable and the COGs, despite their army, know that they can't last long without weapons. The only plausible option, as far as Prime Minister Jinn Desai disagrees, seems to be connected to the Hammer of Dawn, the”old” satellite technologies developed through the Pendulum Wars which allowed the Gears to survive following the dawn of development. On Baird's recommendation the Delta team then returns to Azura to launch an old Hammer prototype which has remained miraculously intact in orbit. Once back in New Ephyra, however, the soldiers discover that the weapon isn't responding properly, only to find that things are getting worse. The narrative opens hot on the heels of that of Gears 4, with Kait, J.D. et al burying Kait's mum and flying back to New Ephyra so as to report to Jinn, the first minister. Kait, Marcus, Del and J.D. have all been enlisted as Gears, and in a nice nod to the past, they are referred to as Delta Squad. Their first mission is routed from Baird, to be able to bring the Hammer back online where they have to try to find an old Hammer of Dawn satellite and get it into orbit. The Hammer is made operational, but the first time it's fired, it is at a price. I can't say any more, but this fractures Delta, and the rest of the game is spent trying to pick the pieces up, discovering bits about Kait's past in the process. Nightmares about the Swarm trouble her, and she appears to have a link to them. Could her grandmother's an Locust symbol that is old, medallion, be a clue to where she came from?

Happily for Kait who although is a strong woman in her own right, has determination and the experience of the Fenix family support this hero that she is about to face. Without spoiling the story, it is definitely more emotional than the previous instalments and thankfully still placed in the Gears of War universe with gruff Marcus Fenix and the older. Without going into detail, I must say that the narrative here is absolutely brilliant, well thoughtfully produced, written and well acted. There are parts which are a throwback to earlier games – like a trip to New Hope in the first game – and not since Dom shot his wife in Gears of War two, and expired in the next, have I been so emotionally invested in a Gears narrative. With a cast of returning characters, like Clayton and Cole Carmine, along with new folks like the niece Lizzie of Carmine, the story rattles along at a fantastic pace, never appearing to draw breath. This is despite the fact that there is an open world component to Gears, as in the third and second actions you're given quite huge expanses to research about the mode of transport – a driven skiff.

Some order PlayStation game titles are better than others. We can place the soul in peace: Gears 5 using its Campaign 2.0, the numerous multiplayer modes and the endless customization options available to the player, it undoubtedly represents the most varied, vast, complete and profound Gears experience ever, accompanied by playability that respects traditions, but that gives a nod to the many modern trends. But the effort of this Coalition isn't only this. It is an action name of the highest quality, supported by a majestic technical realization and by a script that, even fits perfectly into the saga's vast world, laying the groundwork for an epic finale. A shooter that has something to offer all Xbox owners… and that all Xbox owners should definitely play! Story mode is amazing with a story, visuals, the controls and sound are all first rate and the multiplayer, especially the PvE manners, are very good. Gears 5 offers up an remarkable campaign that isn't afraid to take risks, while remaining true to its core. The Escape mode is great, exactly like the additions to the Horde mode that is iconic. It's a shame the videogame suffers from several technical issues.

Gears 5 is developed by The Coalition as a sequel. Unlike previous video games in the Gears of War sequence, the game is simply titled Gears 5 For Gears 5, The Coalition decided to shift player focus. According to studio head Rod Fergusson,”It was a natural choice. Consider it when you play through Gears 4. It was actually the story of Furiosa, and Max was the side kick. That is how it felt in Gears 4, the entire game is about saving Kait's mom, and really JD is there to help her.” It is the sixth installment of the Gears of War sequence, and is the Gears of War video game not to be developed by Epic Games.
